Many therapists have obtained additional certifications that require years of consistent dedication to obtain.   • Orthopedic Certified Specialist (OCS)

    The American Physical Therapy Association grants this certification to clinicians who have demonstrated extensive knowledge and treatment of orthopedic conditions and have passed a stringent examination.

  • McKenzie Certification

    Therapists who are McKenzie Certified have passed an extensive four part series of classes and exams to practice the mechanical diagnosis and treatment of the spine and extremities.

  • Augmented Soft Tissue Mobilization (Astym)

    Performance PT – Barkley is the only place in Whatcom County that you’ll find Astym-Certified clinicians. It’s a therapy approach that addresses problems such as scarring, fibrosis and degeneration that can occur in soft tissue

  • North America Institute of Manual Therapy

    The NAIOMT system has evolved from the Canadian manual therapy program to provide a progressive series of courses and instruction with a strong emphasis on biomechanics, mobilization/manipulation and the interaction of the extremity with the spine (the quadrant system). Many of the Performance PT team members have taken these series of classes and have moved to the upper levels of certification.

  • Vestibular Rehabilitation

    Performance Physical Therapy offers vestibular rehabilitation for patients dealing with dizziness (vertigo), and other various balance dysfunctions. This highly specialized form of therapy includes education for self management techniques, as well as exercises to optimize balance and postural stability.

  • Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS)

    The National Strength and Conditioning Association grants the Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist to professionals who apply scientific knowledge to train athletes for the primary goal of improving athletic performance.
